Cellular (Honeycomb) Shades in Richmond Hill & the GTA
Cellular shades, also called honeycomb shades, are made of pleated fabric formed into hexagon-shaped cells. The cells trap a layer of air against the window, which helps keep rooms warmer in an Ontario winter and cooler in summer, while giving soft, even light.

How it works
Each pleat forms a pocket of air when the shade is lowered. That insulating layer slows heat moving through the glass. When raised, the pleats fold flat into a very compact stack at the top of the window.

Do cellular shades really save energy?
They add an insulating layer of trapped air at the window, which reduces heat loss and heat gain compared with bare glass or single-layer blinds.
Are cellular shades good for bedrooms?
Yes. Blackout cellular shades darken a room well and add insulation, which makes them a strong choice for bedrooms and nurseries.
What is top-down, bottom-up?
The shade can be lowered from the top and raised from the bottom, so you can cover the lower part of a window for privacy while letting daylight in above.
Can cellular shades be motorized?
Yes. Cellular shades can be motorized and controlled by remote, app or voice.
