We come to you in Oakville
For west GTA homeowners, the simplest way to work with us is an in-home consultation. You choose the day and time, and we bring fabric and product samples to your house. Seeing a sheer or a blackout fabric against your own windows, walls and floors tells you far more than any photo, and it means the advice you get is based on your actual rooms rather than a guess.
During the visit we look at how each room is used, which way the windows face and how much privacy you need, then take precise measurements so everything is made to fit. There is no charge for the consultation or the measuring.
Light, glass and larger homes
Oakville is known for its lakefront homes along Lake Ontario, its character homes in older areas and its newer subdivisions in north Oakville. Each comes with its own window covering questions.
Lakefront and south-facing rooms
Homes near the lake can get bright, reflected light, and south- and west-facing rooms can heat up and fade furniture through the afternoon. Silhouette shades soften that light while keeping a view, and layered drapery with a lining gives you a fuller way to darken a room. Our guide to light-filtering vs blackout explains which fabric suits which room.
Large windows and two-storey spaces
Many larger Oakville homes have tall great-room windows, transoms and wide sliding doors. Windows that are hard to reach are a natural fit for motorized shades, which can be lowered with a remote, an app or a schedule instead of a ladder. See our motorized smart home guide for how they fit into a connected home.
Formal living and dining rooms
In more traditional or luxury interiors, tailored drapery and Roman shades bring texture and a finished, custom look. We also offer upholstery, which helps when you want fabrics to work together across a room.

Frequently asked questions
Do you offer free in-home consultations in Oakville?
Yes. GiantTech offers a free in-home consultation and measuring visit in Oakville and across the GTA. You can book it for the day and time that works for you.
What is the best window covering for bright lakefront rooms?
It depends on whether you want to keep the view or darken the room. Silhouette shades and light-filtering fabrics soften glare while keeping an outlook, and lined drapery or blackout shades darken a room more fully. Many homeowners layer a shade with drapery for flexibility.
Can you cover very tall or two-storey windows?
Yes. We measure and make coverings for large windows, and for windows that are hard to reach we often recommend motorized shades so you can operate them with a remote, an app or a schedule.
Do I need to drive to the Richmond Hill showroom?
No. Oakville homeowners can do everything through an in-home consultation, including seeing samples and measuring. The showroom at 1234 Reid St, Unit 9, Richmond Hill is there if you would like to visit as well.
Do you work with Oakville builders and interior designers?
Yes. GiantTech handles residential and commercial projects, including work for builders and designers. Contact us at 942-444-4268, 647-897-2770 or [email protected] to discuss a project.
